The Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society (SWIDS) was established in 2021. We celebrate the joy of dahlia growing, promote education, and share experiences growing dahlias in Idaho. In 2024, the society became an official nonprofit organization. SWIDS is growing the dahlia community!

Northwest Federation of Dahlia Growers

Southwest Idaho Dahlia Society (SWIDS) is an affiliate dahlia society of the Federation of Northwest Dahlia Growers (FNDG). The FNDG is a group of dahlia experts in the Pacific Northwest, that serves dahlia growers, exhibitors, and judges. SWIDS supports the Dahlia Legacy Project This special project is gathering and protecting the invaluable knowledge of our NW Dahlia Leaders and ensuring its accessibility to future generations.

BJ's Dahlia's is owned by Jim Lamson. Mr. Lamson’s legacy has been his steady growing and selling of dahlias for over 60 years.

Jim works closely with Steve Meggos. Jim has two of the 2025 releases of Steve Meggos, Maria K. and Lori Kaiser. Jody Meggos is the President’s Choice at the 58th National Dahlia Show. JL Big
Bill Trefry, JL Julia, JL Kurt Albertson, JL Pat L and JL Spencer are being released this year.

He has grown dahlias in humid Washington to the high desert of Oregon. Mr. Lamson’s unwavering support for SWIDS has contributed to our Society’s success.
